PACKING
LIST
Most
Important Tip: Try to pack light--whatever you bring, we have to carry around,
check-in/check-out, load the bus, and live with for two weeks (and there are a
lot of us).
Don't
forget your passport (and/or VISA if you are a nonUS citizen and a VISA is required),
airline tickets, ATM and credit card, and a couple hundred in USD (in case of
an emergency).
Clothing:
Casual clothing is recommended (casual but presentable, as you are representing
each other and GMU). Plan to dress in layers with a jacket for the top layer and
shorts and t-shirt for the lightest layer. Bring comfortable walking shoes. Don't
wear sandals on the hikes or the horse backing riding. Non-insulated hiking boots
are highly recommended. Bring two or three nicer sets of clothing for going out
to dinner or out on the town. Bring one set of business attire. It is the start
of the rainy season, so be prepared.
Personal
care products: A cup or refillable water bottle, a roll of toilet paper, tissues,
baby wipes or hand sanitizers. Prescription medicines (in the original containers).
Over the counter medicines (also in original container), including something for
allergies and an upset stomach or diarrhea. The voltage is the same as in the
US (so you can bring your hairdryers and such).
School
items: Notebook, folder, pencils, pens (no laptop is necessary).
Misc
items: Flashlight, travel alarm, camera, film, binoculars, Rain gear, hat,
sunscreen, bug spray (with DEET recommended), swimsuit.
Positive
attitude, flexibility and patience, student mentality, and a good mix of curiosity
and
acceptance.
