EDUCATION The three universities comprising the Center offer 13 transportaton-related Ph.D degrees and 17 transportation-related Master's degrees, in various engineering and public affairs subjects. A major initiative at the Center has been the creation of a Master's program in Transportation Policy, Operations and Logistics, headquartered at George Mason University. In response to a severe shortage of skilled transportation professionals, the Center designed a program to deliver the broad range of education required by the new transportation professionals. To serve students, courses are delivered at several sites in Virginia: in person at George Mason Universitys Arlington campus, and by video-conferencing at the state capital Richmond, the Hampton Roads port area, Blacksburg in the southern Shenandoah Valley, and Abington in southwestern Virginia. The program was presented in the state of Montana to some dozen students, using video-conferencing managed by the Montana Department of Transportation.
