Embracing Globalization as a Means Towards Growth and Development:
A Case Study of Southeast Asia and India

STUDENT COMMENTS FROM PREVIOUS TRIPS

Having traveled all across Europe and to Russia I expected my first trip to Asia to be a nice way to receive three credits while seeing another part of the world.  Now, as I look back on my experience the Southeast Asia Study Abroad Program opened up my mind and changed my world-view in invaluable ways.  Whether it was listening to lectures at the United Nations, tasting some exotic Asian foods, traveling  to amazing temples or discovering new things off the beaten path the Southeast Asia study abroad program was truly an unbelievable life-changing learning experience.  Dennis Erb

The study abroad experience allows students of any age the opportunity to expand their worldview in a relevant and challenging academic environment.  The curricula encourages individual development through a mix of lectures, guided instruction, and research, coupled with more casual receptions, local tours, and organized group events.  Darren Hildebrand

The SE Asia trip is something I am sure to remember well after I have graduated from the SPP. While there, I was able to visit, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand. The region, at times an interesting contradiction of economics and social mores, provided for a vast array of topics my classmates and I could discuss well into the night.    Scott A. Schmidt

It was an amazing experience being able to combine both a learning environment and visiting two amazing countries in one trip. Every SPP student should try and at least go on one of these trips, its a life changing event. Tendai Kennedy Kavu

The study abroad in Southeast Asia gave me a real to life insight on that part of the world. Having already spent time in Africa, Europe and America, I really valued the opportunity to see first hand how Singapore and Thailand are growing their economies. I am sure the knowledge I gained will be very useful in the future.

One of the best experiences from George Mason with cutting edge content... current issues on political, social and economic issues. I would never trade anything for it. -Jay

The Southeast Asia trip was by far one of the best experiences of my graduate career. Not only was the trip was educational, it was also fun. I would highly recommend going on a study abroad trip if you have the opportunity. –Janice Ward

I met so many great people from Mason on the study abroad to Southeast Asia. It definitely helped, not only on the educational front but also to know people in my classes on campus. –Leeland Clark
